TORCH Summer Internship Program

The TORCH program places participants in paid summer internships where they get hands-on experience and explore their career goals and options.

TORCH prepares participants (ages range from 15 - 17) for internships throughout the academic school year. Students work with professionals in the communications and new media fields to complete special projects in advertising, film, journalism interactive and music. Additionally, they attend job readiness seminars which focus on career and life skills including interviewing techniques, office protocol and communication skills.

In addition to placing TORCH high school students in internships we also place program alumni who are attending college.

Internship Time Frame and Pay Scale
Internships are 8 - 10 weeks in the summer (20 - 40 hours per week). Intern salaries range between $6.00 - $10.00 per hour.

Interview and Matching Process
After learning the needs of the employer, TORCH matches the internship site with qualified TORCH candidates appropriate for the position. All internship sites have the opportunity to review resumes and interview students before hiring them for the summer.

TORCH Support
TORCH is in regular contact with employers and available at all times to promote a positive experience for both interns and employers. Additionally, employers are requested to evaluate TORCH participants mid-way through and at the end of the summer. TORCH will provide evaluation tools if requested. This ensures that the expectations of employer and intern are being met and assists the TORCH intern in the learning process.
